I recently ran into this gem of an album while scavenging for new sounds at a local record store in France. Soweto Kinch is one of those talented young musicians that is turning heads everywhere he goes. His most recent album, The New Emancipation, is a musical oeuvre rich in modern jazz and hip-hop. Below are a couple links to check out his music from his most recent albums along with a link to buy the album. I strongly recommend it.
"The New Emancipation is a tremendously energetic set that once again sees this celebrated British artist ambitiously exploring a variety of contemporary and classic styles. It's difficult to think of anyone currently able to produce a more convincing and engaging mix than Soweto Kinch."
"Inspired by the collective likes of Brainfeeder and Hyperdub, Rust Coast seeks to provide a similar outlet for Ohio's genre-bending beat makers and producers to communicate with the larger world. With no clear goal or roster in mind, Rust Coast Sounds blends together a variety of beats from Oberlin producers D'Greezy, M$K, and Daniel Oshima, drawing upon a slew of influences from golden age Hip Hop to grime. Toss in a dab of Cleveland MCs Smokescreen, Rust Coast mastermind Wabberjocky mixes it all together into a cohesive story, taking the listener on an auditory journey through turntablism in similar fashion to The Avalanches' Since I Left You."
It was a great pleasure to have this new album sent to us here at Rhythmic Variations of Sound. Ohio's finest young beat makers have collaborated to make a compilation of sounds for our very ears. This album touches on a variety of genres, from jazz, to hip hop, and right back to electronica. It even leaves space for a J-Dilla tribute (Find A Way)! This album, that appears here on the 16th of October, absolutely blew my mind in ways that I had yet to encounter. It was like taking ecstasy straight to my audition. In any case, you know an album is going to be on fire when it starts out by sampling 'The Twilight Zone'.

Keep it going Ohio!!
Looking to quench your thirst for electro-dubstep? Here it is, the latest Trouble and Bass Smashcast featuring two of their biggest artists, 77Klash and The Captain. The Captain, a veteran in the genre, is already on his third Smashcast for the label but keeps bringing hotter and hotter ones on the table. This Smashcash lines up all the electro wobble you could possibly ask for, all on a silver platter for your enjoyment. Twenty minutes in, the entire flow changes from the head banging wobble, to the head banging beat of hip hop, grime and dancehall. Yes, you've guessed it: 77Klash has arrived. A fusion of hip hop, dancehall and electro dubstep is what this Smashcast has to offer and should not be left out. Go download the Smashcast which is available on iTunes.
While touching on Trouble and Bass, I feel like it should be noted that Drop The Lime is headed to Toronto in October. Where? The Social. Drop The Lime is heading out on his Hot As Hell tour at these locations below. First up is Black Milk's "Album Of The Year which is finally up and streaming online and available for purchase physically and digitally below:
I don't want to get into whether I think the album lived up to the name or not (as not to attract the haters). But I will say that it's a great album, every track has a neck braking beat along with raw untouchable lyrics which results in a "Deadly Melody"!
Definitely worth going out and grabbing this album!
Also "Album Of The Year" release party's are going on around the US this week and the RVS crew is gonna try and head over to the Daytwa (Detroit) edition of the party keep you all in the know!

"This latest offering, the WaVES EP, mainly consists of some recent highlights from his ever-changing MySpace player, but he also threw in some all new exclusives as well. Included in the EP are five instrumentals, a track each with both singer/Fresh Kept Secret gradute, Suzi Analogue (who also did the artwork), and also one of the nicest MC’s currently residing in Portland, Theory Hazit, and also a white label remix of Frank N Dank’s “Shut It Down.”"
"So thats about it – let the WaVES be your weekend soundtrack and lemme know what you think. Also, be on the lookout for much more from devonwho coming soon to both right here and elsewhere. You can check out three streams from the project before you get the free download below." - Fresh Selects

Love hearing remixes of the classics and this is exactly that! Up and coming producer KRTS puts his own spin on some of your old school favorites and does every track justice!
"KRTS is back with another rompin', eclectic mixture of tracks: Remixes for Beards and Flannels. Classics from hip-hop's early years are mashed with contemporary sounds and transformed into head-bangin', feet-stompin', eardrum-annihilatin', bass-bustin', grimy-ass indie dance tracks set to blow your Raybans off."

I was in the mood to hear some new Dibia$e joints this morning so I checked out his Soundcloud and ended up finding an EP's worth of new tracks (6 tracks) all uploaded yesterday. I smell a new Dibia$e beat tape!
Great new track, "moOnjoy!" by two members of Indigo Pyramid; Infinite Potentials and Nigel One, featuring the beautiful voice of Lisa Preston aka LP. The beat and vocals are so incredibly cohesive adding a stickiness to the whole song. Absolutely looooove the artwork for this track!
Props to Infinite Potentials for droppin' this off
Can't say I saw this collaboration coming but I was definitely excited when I saw these artists names in the same sentence! This track does not disappoint either with the drums eq'ed perfectly giving the beat a typical Black Milk feel while sampled Dilla vocals echo on top that make "you wanna bounce in ya whip, with that real live shit!" Listen To The Track & Download Below:
Chicago based beat-maker and wordsmith, Jeremiah Jae, drops his latest mixtape; "Eating Donuts & Other Refine Foods." What do you get when you batter the shit out of "Butter"??? You get "Margarine." In this Free Mixtape EP featuring beats by Hud Mo and rhymes by Ced Hughes, "Butter" is turned to "Margarine." Just last year Hudson Mohawke released his critically acclaimed album "Butter." I had the privilege of seeing Hud Mo live earlier this year where he performed his entire album and much more which was arguably one of the craziest and intense spectacles T.Dot has seen to date (Post with video's coming soon). If you still haven't noticed, I am a giant Hud Mo fan! In this EP, up and coming Hip-Hop/Experimental rapper, Ced Hughes, lays down an entire album worth of bars on various beats off of "Butter." Now, I never thought Hudson Mohawke's beats were meant to be taken and rapped over because they were just that good instrumentally, let alone that there would be a full mixtape released of it! But I have to give the man Ced Hughes major credit. He definitely did his thing over every beat not trying to take the spot light from the beats but rather flowing with them smoothly.
Check the video below for the track "Spacely Sprokets" off of Margarine:
Due to recent controversy about this project and the people behind it, RVS would just like to say that I acknowledge that Hudson Mohawke or anyone that represents him, had absolutely nothing to due with the above mixtape. It's simply Ced Hughes that rapped over his beats without his permission, that is all, please don't spam the comment area with hate messages toward us, its simply a mixtape that we posted. End of discussion.
P Villa is an up and coming beat maker/producer and 1/3 or the Blunt Guts Nation Crew. P-Villa drops some science on his debut album taking you on a listening spree from lecture to lecture in a 10 part course on the "Awkward Science" of beat making. Each beat has been concocted using an array of solutions including hip-hop, electronica, crunk, metal and even country resulting in an experimental masterpiece!
T.DOT STAND UP! There's not enough that can be said about the Toronto Beat Maker/Producer; Elaquent also known as EQ. This Hip-Hip/Electronica artist has been tearing up the Toronto beat scene for years now. What really put me on to his music was when I first heard Elaquent's In Colour Vol.1 (Dirty Loops). It was so blatantly obvious that it had been greatly influenced by the man J Dilla with samples from his beats, his vocals and the continuos "Turn It Up" sample in many of his songs along with his raw beats were hard to put down. He recently released his album "Persona" which has gained major attention in the underground and is one of my favorites at the moment. Check Out Every Song Below:
Support Elaquent by purchasing "Persona" for a measly 9 bucks, seriously this shit is worth it. Purchase @ Band Camp or iTunes
