After falling in love with his mixtape Section.80 and playing it on repeat, I was given the choice to pick any song to direct. I settled on “A.D.H.D.” for it’s dark beat and melancholy lyrics, tones that have always resonated with me. Like most of Kendrick’s songs off Section.80, it felt like a confessional of a conflicted generation; a timeless and universal theme. "
What a great day for music! I spent all day listening to some of the most anticipated releases of the year so I'm just gonna go in the order I listened to them in.
First up is Black Milk's "Album Of The Year which is finally up and streaming online and available for purchase physically and digitally below:
I don't want to get into whether I think the album lived up to the name or not (as not to attract the haters). But I will say that it's a great album, every track has a neck braking beat along with raw untouchable lyrics which results in a "Deadly Melody"!
Definitely worth going out and grabbing this album!
Also "Album Of The Year" release party's are going on around the US this week and the RVS crew is gonna try and head over to the Daytwa (Detroit) edition of the party keep you all in the know!
NEW YORK Black Milk will be traveling to Brooklyn, NY to celebrate the album’s release at Southpaw on Tuesday, Sept 14. Also performing will be Sean Price, Elzhi, and Guilty Simpson, along with Brooklyn’s own DJ Spinna on the wheels. This event will be 18+. Order tickets here.

DETROIT Last, and absolutely not least, Black Milk is throwing a massive album release party in his hometown of Detroit at St. Andrews Hall on Saturday, September 18. In addition to his usual band of AB & Daru, the Will Sessions band will be backing him, along with DJ Dez on turntables. The party will also double as the homecoming of HexMurda, who will be making his first appearance since his stroke in 2010. Guaranteed to be a night to remember for Detroit. Only $5 to get in. Earlier this month Unda aka Undaground Tha Illest (1/3 of the Blunt Guts Nation crew) and myself had the privilege of seeing DJ Spinna, DâM-FunK & Master Blazter tear it up @ Fort Greene Park in Brooklyn, New York! DJ Spinna opened up the show with an ambient-funk set that had the entire park groovin' to the rhythm. DâM-FunK soon followed with his trademark, multitalented, backup band; Master Blazter. The band is composed of Computer Jay workin' the keys, J-1 slaughtering the drums and D-F doing everything musically possible! DâM put on one hell of a show. He was on the keyboards, doing Key-tar solo's all over the stage and jumping into the crowd all while singing every note perfectly at the same time. Check the high light reel of the show below:
