Slum Village - Live It Up ft. Vice (Prod. Young RJ) [DWNLD]

Earlier this year, Detroit's evolved Slum Village crew defied odds and dropped their surprise mixtape, "Dirty Slums". Following ecstatic reviews and a couple of music videos from the project, SV lets loose yet another new tack entitled, "Live It Up", featuring frequent collaborator, Vice. The Young RJ produced single is the lead sampling of the trio's recently announced upcoming LP, "Dirty Slums: Evolution", which is expected to drop in November. Big Sean - Detroit (Mixtape) [DWNLD]

G.O.O.D. Music rapper, Big Sean, takes some time to rep The D with his latest mixtape, "Detroit". 

The 16 track project involves a number of guest spots from J. Cole, Mike Posner, Juicy J, French Montana, Royce Da 5'9, Kendrick Lamar, Chris Brown, Jhene Aiko, Tyga as well as short story interludes by Common, Young Jeezy and Snoop Lion.

The mixtape also features progressive production from KeY Wayne, Young Chop, Don Cannon and Hit-Boy among others.

" Here’s an instrumental from the Universal Records release I mentioned last month. No samples on this one – the UK publishing company was super strict about that.


It started as a ruff idea produced on my keyboard and turned into a full live string production. We recorded it and mixed it in two days at a full studio near Detroit where I always use the same engineer, Grammy winning Todd Fairall. Keep a lookout for it in the background of some TV shows. Enjoy! "

Clear Soul Forces - Detroit Revolution(s) LP [DWNLD]

Earlier this month, budding new collective, Clear Soul Forces, dropped their highly anticipated album, "Detroit Revolution(s)". The crew took the music world by storm in early January after releasing the breakout lead single from the project, "Get No Better". Well the rest of the LP features much of the same dopeness while the crew offers sparse tributes to the highly influential J Dilla throughout.

The 15 track album is primarily produced by one fourth of the quartet, Ilajide, along with a few guest productions from Nameless, KanKick and King Midas.

That classic Detroit sound meets the future. Dilla would be proud.

" Baatin was the eldest of my friends. Born Titus Prentice Glover, we met in the 3rd grade at Courville elementary. I knew then he was a different type of dude.

Up and coming Detroit rap crew, Clear Soul Forces, team up with versatile producer, Nameless for the heavy knocking new single, "Knuckle Up". This is isn't the first time the quartet have linked up with the Flint, Michigan producer - In 2010 the collective dropped the electrifying, Nameless produced, single, "Pick Up The Sticks".


"Knuckle Up" is off Nameless' gem filled "Be[ats] Original Vol. 3" which is out now.

" Todays stream is of the original version of, “Crushin” produced by me. We have J Rocc to thank for this one. I was Djing with Houseshoes in San Fran with Fran Boogie and DJ Mr. E. We heard J Rocc was staying in the same hotel and went to holla at him. We were talking about Dilla rarities when he said that he liked that version of, “Crushin” I did. I was like what version!?! He played it and it split my melon! I did that beat for Dilla circa 2002 for his MCA project – I assumed he never used it when I didn’t hear anything. " Que D “Cash Flow (Remix)” I first got this cassette while hanging out in Dilla’s basement in Conant Gardens, Detroit. The original track was part of Dilla’s cousin – Que D’s first EP, Quite Delicious. Dilla did all of the beats and I did the photography/artwork for Que’s 6 track release that we put out ourselves in ‘96. There were remixes for every song that never saw the light of day till now.
