Clear Soul Forces - Detroit Revolution(s) LP [DWNLD]

Earlier this month, budding new collective, Clear Soul Forces, dropped their highly anticipated album, "Detroit Revolution(s)". The crew took the music world by storm in early January after releasing the breakout lead single from the project, "Get No Better". Well the rest of the LP features much of the same dopeness while the crew offers sparse tributes to the highly influential J Dilla throughout.

The 15 track album is primarily produced by one fourth of the quartet, Ilajide, along with a few guest productions from Nameless, KanKick and King Midas.

That classic Detroit sound meets the future. Dilla would be proud.

Worldwide Wednesday: Gigi - Gud Fella [DWNLD]

It seems in todays musical media influenced world we often forget to recognize truly beautiful music of other cultures and languages. Good music transcends genre, country, culture and language. Therefore RVS would like to introduce our newest weekly column; Worldwide Wednesday. Once a week we will be acknowledging various artists, songs, albums and more from around the world to enlighten and broaden your horizon.
This weeks Worldwide Wednesday spotlights the Ethiopian singer and song writer, Ejigayehu Shibabaw also known as Gigi, who found her humble beginnings from contemporary church music and went on to compose in a wide variety of genres. I first came across Gigi's artistry on Velvet Lounge Compilation 2 with a house influenced version of her song Gud Fella. Contrary to popular belief, Gud Fella is not a misspelling of Good Fella but actually means the start of trouble in Ethiopian. Its infectious lyrics and body movin' beat will have you singing and dancing along the whole time! I've memorized most of the lyrics and I don't even speak a word of Ethiopian!

"As much as I'd like to have an elaborate story behind this ep, the truth is; it's simply a collection of beats that I made within a certain amount of time, that I feel stuck out from the rest. The selection was made by nobody else but me. With that being said, it is a completely honest and whole-hearted gesture.

The term "reliques" was used because I feel, aesthetically, it possess a universal and classic characteristic, and that is more or less the same kind of expression I am hoping to relay to you all with my music. Not like mozart style or some fuckin ape man shit... but the approachability and biological/ evolutionary familiarity of a word like reliques (an archaic variant of "relics") to me, really does magnify the intended essence of the music. and it means alot to me, so I guess there is some literal significance there too. I also like how the conceptual relation (music to title) kind of leaves you with room to venture, but doing so without being so vague as to seem arbitrary." - AL_PD

Skream - Outside The Box

In Skream's newest album the dubstep pioneer steps "Outside the Box" and dabbles in similar genres including electronica and drum 'n' bass for his latest effort. The album presents a number of instrumental joints as well as one that has MURS rap over it. A standout album from this summer.

Turn Back Time Mondays: Groove Theory

Although I've had this album digitally for years, I just recently found it on vinyl and just had to have it. Groove Theory has been one of my favorite Producer-Singer R&B duos for a long time featuring the soothing voice of Amel Larrieux and the great 90's production of Bryce Wilson. Sadly the two were only able to release one incredible self titled album in 1995 which I would recommend to anyone and everyone! Thats why for todays flash back joints I had to post my personal favorite tracks off the album.
