Elaquent - The Midnight After (Album Stream)

" You already know. Anybody who has checked out my 2009 release 'After Midnight' should already understand the vibe i was going for. If you havent heard After Midnight, then allow me to elaborate. Midnight soul shit. Certain sounds resonate more after dark, than before dark. something about the night skies, the moon, the crickets. jazzy, smooth, vibin type music. As i always say, perfect is boring. Tracks are a bit lo fi and sloppy. but so is life. Take your jacket off, stay for a while. Grab your Rye and Coke. I tried to create an atmosphere that will set the mood right. Studying. Drinking. Smoking. Romance. Just do me a favor and play it at night. Shoutouts to Marv Won, Mr Brady, O-Phrap, Es, Solar-C, and Phillipe Edison for helping me realize the vision. Highest praises to the whole HW&W team. Ok. Less reading, more vibing. Enjoy. " - Elaquent

Black Milk - Album Of The Year (Stream)

What a great day for music! I spent all day listening to some of the most anticipated releases of the year so I'm just gonna go in the order I listened to them in.

First up is Black Milk's "Album Of The Year which is finally up and streaming online and available for purchase physically and digitally below:

I don't want to get into whether I think the album lived up to the name or not (as not to attract the haters). But I will say that it's a great album, every track has a neck braking beat along with raw untouchable lyrics which results in a "Deadly Melody"!

Definitely worth going out and grabbing this album!

Also "Album Of The Year" release party's are going on around the US this week and the RVS crew is gonna try and head over to the Daytwa (Detroit) edition of the party keep you all in the know!

NEW YORK
Black Milk will be traveling to Brooklyn, NY to celebrate the album’s release at Southpaw on Tuesday, Sept 14. Also performing will be Sean Price, Elzhi, and Guilty Simpson, along with Brooklyn’s own DJ Spinna on the wheels. This event will be 18+. Order tickets here.

SAN FRANCISCO
On Friday, September 24, Black will be making his San Francisco debut at the venue Mighty. The heavyweight lineup will be in effect with Detroit-representatives Elzhi and DJ House Shoes making the trip. This event will be 21+. You can order your tickets here.

DETROIT
Last, and absolutely not least, Black Milk is throwing a massive album release party in his hometown of Detroit at St. Andrews Hall on Saturday, September 18. In addition to his usual band of AB & Daru, the Will Sessions band will be backing him, along with DJ Dez on turntables.
The party will also double as the homecoming of HexMurda, who will be making his first appearance since his stroke in 2010. Guaranteed to be a night to remember for Detroit. Only $5 to get in. No pre-sale tickets… just show up. 18+.

More artists should release albums like this when they can't fit everything onto one LP! Enjoy the free material and remixes!

"Free download of Exile’s Radio (Bonus Album) in celebration of his upcoming August 31st AM/FM release via Plug Research. AM/FM will feature various producers remixing the original Radio tracks, while Blu, Fashawn, Shafiq Husayn, Samiyam, Free the Robots, DJ Day, Clutchy Hopkins, Evidence, Alchemist, Krondon, Muhsinah, Aloe Blacc, Grouch and Eligh go over the originals. The amount of submissions were so high, not everything could fit on the official AM/FM album, hence the free download."

Elaquent - Persona [DWNLD]

T.DOT STAND UP! There's not enough that can be said about the Toronto Beat Maker/Producer; Elaquent also known as EQ. This Hip-Hip/Electronica artist has been tearing up the Toronto beat scene for years now. What really put me on to his music was when I first heard Elaquent's In Colour Vol.1 (Dirty Loops). It was so blatantly obvious that it had been greatly influenced by the man J Dilla with samples from his beats, his vocals and the continuos "Turn It Up" sample in many of his songs along with his raw beats were hard to put down. He recently released his album "Persona" which has gained major attention in the underground and is one of my favorites at the moment.

Check Out Every Song Below:

Support Elaquent by purchasing "Persona" for a measly 9 bucks, seriously this shit is worth it.
