Samples Used On Drake's Take Care [DWNLD]

One of the first things I do once I finish listening to an album is go research all the familiar samples I hear but can't put my finger on. Well the good folks over at Babylon Cartel have compiled all the samples used on Drake's sophomore album,  Take Care, and made them available for download! The compilation contains R&B classics including Back That Azz Up by Juvenile, Anything by SWV, Calling On You by Jon B, my personal favorite If U Scared, Say U Scared by Playa and more.

J Rocc - Blue Note Mix [DWNLD]

This is a few years old but has been in heavy rotation on my iTunes as of late and definitely worth some recognition.

"Blue Note has just released "Droppin' Science: Greatest Samples From The Blue Note Lab" - a collection of records from their back catalog which have been sampled for tracks by Dilla, Dre, Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Pete Rock, and many others. "

"J Rocc has these records and many of the records that sampled them, and J Rocc cannot stop making incredible mixtapes .... " - Stones Throw Records

Elaquent - Persona [DWNLD]

T.DOT STAND UP! There's not enough that can be said about the Toronto Beat Maker/Producer; Elaquent also known as EQ. This Hip-Hip/Electronica artist has been tearing up the Toronto beat scene for years now. What really put me on to his music was when I first heard Elaquent's In Colour Vol.1 (Dirty Loops). It was so blatantly obvious that it had been greatly influenced by the man J Dilla with samples from his beats, his vocals and the continuos "Turn It Up" sample in many of his songs along with his raw beats were hard to put down. He recently released his album "Persona" which has gained major attention in the underground and is one of my favorites at the moment.

Kanye West; The Producer [DWNLD]

Came across a couple of videos of Kanye in the studio making some good ass beats just to get everyone prepared for his upcoming album, Good Ass Job, which is supposed to be on the same level as college drop out! Hopefully this will mean the return of the old Kanye?

Funny video of Kanye on 60 minutes

Kanye in rare form in the studio!

Beat Battle: Dibiase vs Jeh Free

I just came across this crazy beat battle between well known beat konducter Dibiase and Jeh Free. Both flip a variety of samples that go up against each other starting with a song seemingly produced by Drunken Russians trying to interpret a Mexican Sangria Fiesta. Then they both flip "I Believe In Miracles" and an Indian version of "Thriller!" The results are straight DOPE! Check it out.
