Take Live Set @ The Drake Underground [DWNLD]

The other night; the up and coming beat maker from L.A.'s Alpha Pup Label kicked off his new album release, "Only Mountain" by performing one of the best sets I have heard in Toronto since the last time Nosaj Thing came around! The evening was started off with an Ableton Live Workshop konducted by Take himself to help aspiring artists in T-Dot by learning from a professional. Take let everyone in on some of his secrets and techniques to his craft and the audience was truly appreciative. Check out the video of the workshop below.

The workshop was followed by two opening sets by Toronto Producers/DJ's Ultragamma and MyManHenri. When Take finally came on, the crowd erupted as he began his set with a bollywood remix and playing others throughout the set. I have to say, his set was nothing like his albums "Only Mountain" or "L.A. Series #2" as his albums are far more mellowed while his set was neck-breaking! He did play songs from his album and various remixes including my personal favorite of the night: A Remix/Tribute Of Slum Village's "Fall In Love" that the crowd just couldn't help but sing along to. After the workshop I had an opportunity to converse with Take about music production and music in general. I also got a copy of his debut album "Only Mountains" from Take and did not stop listening to it the entire ride home.
