Evian Christ - Kings & Them (Mixtape) [DWNLD]

Earlier this year a producer known as Evian Christ released his first mixtape entitled "Kings & Them" – a project influenced mainly by hip hop with elements of electronic music.

One of my favorite cuts off the mixtape is "Fuck It None of Y’all Don’t Rap", a fast paced track mainly fueled by a trio of bass hits under a rough and choppy vocal sample. Evian Christ definitely shows off his skill with developing a complex beat with the track "MYD". "MYD" starts off by resonating a beautiful airy sound and progresses to a rush of noise once the vocal sample hits.

Peep "Fuck It None of Ya'll Don't Rap" and "MYD" as well as the rest of the mixtape which is available for free download below. Enjoy!

Dunson - Count On It [DWNLD]

"Count on It" represents the unapologetic confidence you have when you have put your work in. I love how it incorporates a childhood sample that so many of us are familiar with. That helped me keep it ambitious but not overly aggressive! The underground success of Creative Destruction 2 opened up some opportunities for me. One of those opportunities was to work with Grammy-Nominated production crew, Phatboiz. After a few sessions together, they saw my passion and started to hear my increased lyrical development. That led them to cook up this track for me. I heard it and came up with the concept and verses immediately! We laid it down one night in NYC and the energy and vibe was incredible so we knew this would be the first to release off the upcoming project entitled The Investment." - Dunson
Nothing like a feel good rap track to kick away that mid-week slump! Is this on repeat you ask? Yes, yes it is. Dunson does it again!

Young Gliss - Charles Bradley (Les Professionels Edit) [DWNLD]

Young Gliss, who also happens to be Questlove's cousin, takes a Les Professionels edit of the Charles Bradley single, "The World (Is Going Up In Flames)", and reworks it into a hip hop hit. Don't get me wrong, the Charles Bradley original is fire too, but this will have you nodding your head like you're a real G. Conscious lyrics over a soulful beat, can you ask for anything more on a Sunday afternoon?

Chilly Gonzales - Never Stop (Rap Mix)

I recently stumbled on this Chilly Gonzales hit after walking outside in the blazing heat for half an hour and it immediately refreshed me. Gonzales is a Canadian artist residing in France known mostly for his techno remixes rather than his songwriting abilities. So it's a surprise to find that the first song I fall on, is one that he's written. In any case, it's a nice tune and worth a listen.

Dela - The Robert Glasper Beat Tape [DWNLD]

I first heard Robert Glasper's music 3-4 years ago. At the time, all I was listening to was J-Dilla, I just could not get enough of his music, until I had listened to just about everything that had been released at that time. So the next best thing after that was finding tributes or artists that were inspired by him. Thats when I came across Robert Glasper's "J Dillalude" off of his album "In My Element" which was a Jazz rendition/tribute of various J Dilla beats. This specific song got me absolutely hooked on Glasper's music as well as Jazz and music production itself.

You can give "J Dillalude" a listen or download below:

I first heard the French Canadian producer Dela about two years ago, while searching for more Dilla-esque music, I came across a cover of J-Dilla's "Won't Do" which was re-mastered by Dela and featuring Miles Bonny on the vocals off of the album "Changes In Atmosphere." I was immediately hooked on Dela's work after this:

The live production of the cover of "Won't Do" below:

Now, to get to what I originally started this post out for: Here is a Robert Glasper Beat Tape presented and re-mastered by Dela. The beat tape is pure genius. Two artists that have both been influenced by Dilla on the same beat tape...What more could you ask for?
