Mayer Hawthorne - A Long Time (Chromeo Remix) [DWNLD]

Cubic Zirconia - Take Me High [Music Video]

Cubic Zirconia have recently signed on to the Fool's Gold Record label with the band's debut to come out in September. "Take Me High" is a taste of what's to come from their debut LP entitled Follow Your Heart. Scion A/V released this music video a couple days ago and left me excited to see what they pull off next.

Over here at RVS, we have the utmost respect for Brodinski. He was one of the first live shows that I went to and he has heavily influenced my tastes ever since. Brodinski has been having a huge year dropping mixtapes (Best of Everything Part 2) and dropping an enormous podcast through Fool's Gold. But he's still back for more doing a surprising remix of The Aikiu's latest hit, The Red Kiss. You can grab that below thanks to the good folks over at RCRD LBL. Happy New Years once again from the RVS fam to all of our readers! You may have noticed some changes to this page as we are now going to advertise events in and around the Toronto area for all of you! It's back! The weekly electronic smash is back and we're hitting you with updates from each of the major techno labels out there. Today, we start off with Fool's Gold Records and their latest updates!

A-Trak recently bid farewell to the boys at Fat Beats with his own set at one of their last stores. It's a sad, sad day to see Fat Beats leave us so I'm dropping you with some highlights of A-Trak's set over at their store.


Also, new on Fool's Gold, Green Money has just dropped a new mix tape that can be downloaded below. It's got a bunch of new remixes from them and if you're around, catch them live!

The new Foolcast has also been released by Style of Eye that has also released his newest single, Homeless. What else is new? Chromeo is releasing their new LP Business Casual on the 14th and here at Rhythmic Variations of Sound, we can't help but tingle with excitement. We'll be covering the LP as soon as possible but until then, go out and pre-order the release! I had the pleasure of seeing Chromeo do a live performance at the University of Toronto yesterday and they blew the minds off them university kids!

The Weekly Electronic Smash!

It's that time of the week again and a lot has been happening in the electronic world. We'll start off by checking out Mad Decent! This week Mad Decent released two dope mixtapes. The first one is by none other but the legend that is Mumdance. Last week I wrote about how Mumdance was dubbing the new hit from France but to be honest, he is so legendary he shouldn't even be worried about dubbing the next big French hit. A while ago he dropped another mixtape with AC Slater on Trouble and Bass, but this Mad Decent mixtape has so much unreleased music some of the songs don't even have titles! Download it below and blast it!

Mad Decent also released the Lazerproof mixtape which was made by both Diplo and Switch for La Roux while they were in Jamaica working on new stuff. It has a think reggae feel to it and it definitely fits with the whole Major Lazer outfit. The album is available below so download it!

Fool's Gold did something quite spectacular this week: they started up a side blog - Food's Gold. And yes, you guessed it, it's completely and utterly about food! How dope is that? Not only can you check out new releases but now you can check out awesome recipes! Now all we need are foolishly golden drinks and we're set for the best nights out!

Ed Banger Records have finally released the digital version of Mr. Oizo and Gaspard Auge's Rubber EP. As a bonus on the EP, and this one goes out to all our dubstep fans, Flying Lotus remixed the shit out of the song Rubber. In fact, he remixed it so much, that it's officially called the 'Flying Lotus Unprotected Sex' remix. It's that legit. A while back Mr. Oizo had remixed a FlyLo song, so FlyLo has just paid the man back.

Finally, as a bonus this week I offer two specials:

Senor Stereo - Unintentional EP [DWNLD]

A blend of sexy disco, funk, and old school house/techno is what Senor Stereo is determined to bring to the music scene. Senor Stereo are the newest djs to join Slow Roast Records and they have only just released their first EP a couple of days ago. The Unintentional EP has been well received and has even appeared on the Fool's Gold blog. This is only the second release by Slow Roast Records and it seems like they're signing all the right acts. Don't forget to also check out their first release (Kill The Noise - Roots)! In any case, Senor Stereo is definitely an act to catch on tour with them promising both live gigs and other times, simply a dj set. One thing is for certain though, their songs are definitely rocking the dancefloors this summer!
