Aloe Blacc - You Make Me Smile [Music Video]

Stones Throw representative Aloe Blacc returns to the face of the Earth with a new music video for the track, "You Make Me Smile", off his 2010 album, "Good Things". The album flung Blacc on several world tours last year, even bringing him to Toronto, where the RVS crew got the chance to meet him. The Pointer Sisters - Automatic (SNDCLSH & Dj Kue Remix) [DWNLD]

Charles Bradley ft. Menahan Street Band - No Time For Dreaming [DWNLD]

With the modern revival of both soul and funk with flag bearers ranging from Dam-Funk to Peanut Butter Wolf while stopping at Mayer Hawthorne and Aloe Blacc, it's no surprise to see Charles Bradley release his debut album much along the lines of the latter artists. With sounds that emulate the work of both Mayer Hawthorne and Aloe Blacc, you may believe that this man doesn't bring anything else to the table other than similar sounds but, we ask you to think again. The 62 year old man is releasing his debut album alongside the Menahan Street Band, whom were made famous for their album 'Make The Road By Walking'. Charles Bradley has a voice that resembles the emotional hardships of today's world and although the going may get tough, Bradley 'believes in your love'. This artist and this album is not one to miss as 'No Time For Dreaming' is dropped on Daptones the 25th of January. Grab it, jam to it, and let the sound capture your soul and take you away.

"Diggin Europe: The Mission 60'-80'” mix is a collage of European recordings dating from 1960-1980, oscillating between such genres as Jazz, Big Beat, Funk, Electronic, Psychedelic and Rock music. Unlike two previous mixes containing some recordings of Polish artists signed with Muza Polskie Nagrania and Pronit, this one joins musical pieces of European artists from Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Russia, Romania, Portugal, France. The 68 pieces used in the mix were carefully selected out of nearly one thousand vinyl records released in the Old Continent over the decades. The idea behind “Diggin Europe: The Mission 60'-80'” is to show the identity of European music dating from the developmentally significant and simply the best times for the music itself. Jamiroquai - Rock Dust Light Star [Music Video]

It’s the return of the Space Cowboy as he blasts us with a Rock Dust Light Star. That’s right; Jamiroquai is back with a brand new album by the name of Rock Dust Light Star. Where do you even begin describing the career of a veteran like Jamiroquai? Do you make corny metaphors about Virtual Insanity, Seven Days in Sunny June or the hit that was Space Cowboy? I obviously went with the latter knowing that nothing that I write will do this album justice. Jamiroquai is one of my favorite artists of all time. His take on poppy funk absolutely blows my mind and to this day, he has his own distinct style. A style that is so fresh it transcends time, from the 90s all the way through the past two decades. The deluxe album includes his release of the hit single Rock Dust Light Star live at Paleo while I leave you with the live video below. Dam Funk, you have met your teammate in bringing the fresh sounds of modern funk to the world. And hey, you know Jamiroquai is fresh to death since he reps that Native American war bonnet! Chromeo - Business Casual

Kareem couldn't have put it any better, September 14th was an amazing day for music. I couldn't help but have a huge smile on my face because I knew that this heavily anticipated album was hitting the stores yesterday. I've been playing this album on loop all night and it hasn't even started getting old yet. This album is everything you'd want from a modern disco duo that mixes both electronic beats and enough Saturday night fever to keep your mojo go on overdrive throughout the album. If this album doesn't boost your libido, you've got no hope whatsoever. Chromeo is giving us a huge break from the head splitting, jack hammer and fist pumping shit you hear in clubs nowadays. In any case, this album is a definite and ranks high on RVS' top albums of the year!
Go out and buy it, it's a must!!!

Holy Ghost - Static On The Wire EP [DWNLD]

To announce my return to Rhythmic Variations of Sound, after a long break due to the omnipresent censures of the Middle Kingdom (China), I have decided to promote the newest EP by the New York duo, Holy Ghost! Holy Ghost! are currently on tour with LCD Soundsystem but they have managed to release this EP that has my septum tingling with excitement. Holy Ghost! made famous for their remixes for MGMT, Cut Copy, LCD Soundsystem, and Phoenix, are bringing back that 70s and 80s era disco to the dance floor. This incredibly danceable EP has already been remixed by the likes of RAC. They remixed the song, Static On The Wire and it has you poppin' that ass to the poppy-disco tune. You can grab that below, so don't hesitate. This EP is making the wait for Chromeo's newest album a lot more bearable, but has you popping your hips to it like none other. In any situation, it's a fucking good break from the jacked up, techno-douche, dance hammer style that's been hitting us with migraines all summer.

Senor Stereo - Unintentional EP [DWNLD]

A blend of sexy disco, funk, and old school house/techno is what Senor Stereo is determined to bring to the music scene. Senor Stereo are the newest djs to join Slow Roast Records and they have only just released their first EP a couple of days ago. The Unintentional EP has been well received and has even appeared on the Fool's Gold blog. This is only the second release by Slow Roast Records and it seems like they're signing all the right acts. Don't forget to also check out their first release (Kill The Noise - Roots)! In any case, Senor Stereo is definitely an act to catch on tour with them promising both live gigs and other times, simply a dj set. One thing is for certain though, their songs are definitely rocking the dancefloors this summer!
