Questlove's J Dilla Tribute Mix [DWNLD]

Earlier last week Questlove of the legendary Roots crew took to the Hot 97 studios to play a gem filled tribute mix to the late great J Dilla. For those of you that don't know, Questo and Jay Dee were very good friends and have worked together numerous times therefore it's only right that he took some time to do this. The mix is over an hour long filled with classics and original samples along with some good conversation and live calls. Listen and download below!

The Roots - Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around [Video]

" On February 14th, the soundtrack to the film "Soundtrack For A Revolution" will be released. It features contemporary artists singing traditional Civil Rights-era freedom songs. The Roots perform "Ain't Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around" in this clip, which juxtaposes black-and-white footage of 20th-century Civil Rights protests with color footage of the band performing in a recording studio. " - via Rolling Stone

Young Gliss - Charles Bradley (Les Professionels Edit) [DWNLD]

Young Gliss, who also happens to be Questlove's cousin, takes a Les Professionels edit of the Charles Bradley single, "The World (Is Going Up In Flames)", and reworks it into a hip hop hit. Don't get me wrong, the Charles Bradley original is fire too, but this will have you nodding your head like you're a real G. Conscious lyrics over a soulful beat, can you ask for anything more on a Sunday afternoon?

Ableton<----------The Bridge--------->Serato

Finally! I know A LOT of you have been waiting for a software that allows you to DJ and Produce music at the same time through the same software at home and during performances!

Take it to The Bridge:
"The Bridge spans the gap between music production and DJing, creating a natural link between Ableton Live and Scratch Live or ITCH. The Bridge provides a powerful fusion of DJ and production tools, opening a world of opportunities for DJing, remixing and live performance." - Taken from--> http://serato.com/thebridge

DJ Jazzy Jeff:

“The mixtape feature was probably the best thing I've ever seen... For DJs who don't make beats yet, that turns into 'hey, I can make beats in here too.' For the guys who are beatmakers already as well as DJs, it's great because it's almost like you're DJing with multitracks. People are going to get really creative, I know my brain is working already, there's stuff that I'm going to do that I choose not to disclose right now because it's top secret.”

?uestlove (The Roots):

“My initial reaction? I was absolutely elated. As with most DJs that are Ableton friendly, a lot of us have been utilizing Ableton's warping to quantize and straighten out records that otherwise fluctuate. Now that we have the opportunity to play with the actual files... and use them in DJ gigs and live shows, the possibilities are absolutely 100% endless. Being as I just saw [The Bridge], my mind is racing with endless ideas...”

Hudson Mohawke:

“To see the two things working together is an immediate step forward. Definitely for the DJs, it's a big step. Now I can focus on more of the creative side than just getting things in time.”
