The Weekly Singles [DWNLD]

Here at Rhythmic Variations of Sound, we tend to create a bunch of different columns but never really keep up with deadlines. In that very tradition, I feel like Wednesdays can become the Wednesday Weekly Singles column where we drop some hot new singles out there! The rules are simple, we post a single, we offer a legal link for you to download them, you give them a listen and hit us up with comments. Now, ideally, if this all works out, we'll offer a top ten list either weekly or monthly! So drop them comments below.
We got to start this column with something popular to keep the top 40 kids interested. Lately, I've been hearing the drone of the line 'like a G6'. Unfortunately it has been hammered into my head so often with such excruciating pain that I have actually muttered the words while taking a shower. Ever since it has pained me to even look at myself in the mirror, but I stumbled across this version that makes it somewhat more bearable. Granted, the song still uses one of the worst metaphors of all time ('like a G6' for those of you that are grammatically impaired), but considering it cuts down on the awful lyricism of the song, I can actually listen to it now. Check it out below with a free download brought to you by RCRD LBL.
Far East Movement - Like A G6 (Big Syphe Remix)

Although Warp 1.9 is severely outdated and no longer needs a new remix, it miraculously got a new paint job by the DirtyPhonics boys. This is one of those dub-step remixes that you either love or hate within the first 30 seconds. Quite frankly, my ears are still in pain from the racket but it is definitely going to be a club hit and most likely going to pump you up to go absolutely wild. I feel if you're on a narcotics cocktail this song becomes the anthem to your trip. But, like all great trips, you only crash and burn with a massive hangover. This is another freebie brought to you by RCRD LBL.
Bloody Beetroots, The - WARP (feat. Steve Aoki) (Dirty Phonics Dubstep Remix) : ADD

I started enjoying Sunday Girl when her Four Floors remix came out and have been on the lookout for new remixes ever since. Thankfully, Mad Decent's Rusko came out and recently remixed her track, 'Hey Stop'. It's interesting because as the song begins, it sounds like a trashy 90s techno mix reminiscent of 'Boom, Boom, Boom, I Want You In My Room', but as it transitions into a slower bass rhythm, that mimics a dubstep beat, the song becomes a lot more attractive and bearable. It's a nice tune to throw on at 2:30 on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. RCRD LBL also hands us this one through a club mix between the two. By the way, check out Rusko's intro live in Toronto. It's absolutely wild.

Lupe Fiasco has been one of my favourite emcees and the only reason I ever started listening to hip hop to begin with. Ever since he came out saying that his third album would be his last, singles have been leaked onto the internet (Shining Down..etc.). In between the time that the second album came out and now, he's been throwing mix tapes left and right because he feels like he's been left out of the picture. Now, Lupe, you're left out because you aren't releasing shit! Then, you get upset and throw a crappy produced mix tape and expect to get recognition? C'mon man, you're smarter than that. In any case, this isn't about our frustration as to when Lasers is going to come out, but rather his newest single to be released, 'The Show Goes On'. Reminiscent of Queen's, 'The Show Must Go On', this poppy track is nothing like what we expected. Here at RVS we were upset with this latest track but we're open to feedback. Check out the download link below.

We have to talk about this man, Kanye West. Ever since the Runaway video has spread virally all over the internet, he's the man everyone's talking about. I don't blame ya, I've watched that video at least three times. It's a great cinematographic piece and if Kanye's put this much effort into this video, the album must be on fire. In fact, the video is laced with multiple clips of the songs on the album. But, for this week, we'll stick with the latest leaked song on RCRD LBL, Don't Look Down. Give it a listen, then watch the Runaway video. The grandeur of this album is absolutely breathtaking! Don't let us down Kanye!
