Helix - Rapid Mixtape [DWNLD]

With a single coming out in 2012 on Night Slugs and this dope-ass mixtape on Lucky Me, you know you want to keep an eye out for Helix this year! Don't forget to go and check out the mixtape page on Lucky Me for more exclusives through the year!
" Helix is that dude with All Caps & Night Slugs 12″s out this apocalyptic 2012 which places him in unique position to quietly influence the best djs this year; just before the oceans evaporate forever… and so what’s he offering? Well he’s upping the tempo on all this pussy compressed laptop techno and trying to bring back something raw uncut with clattering, black-pepper drum programming that feels authentic. He builds music for 1AM and 4AM with equal weight – even his deeper, understated moments swing on long tape saturated pads. And with this tape for us, which could of easily just been a tribute to OJ Da Juiceman, he sorta surprised us with this perfect night drive soundtrack of rapid & classic techno that warrants bouncing to cassette just for the extra dose of fuzz as the planet moves slowly closer to the sun. Our 100th tape. Helix in the mix. Happy new year. " - LuckyMe

Real Scenes: Detroit (Documentary) [Video]

Great documentary about the musical safe haven that is Detroit.
Real Scenes: Detroit from Resident Advisor on Vimeo.
" You can't talk about electronic music without mentioning Detroit. That's why in the second edition of Real Scenes, RA and Bench went to the city which birthed the genre we now call techno. "

Kingdom ft. Naomi Allen - Take Me

Fool's Gold are dropping the newest Kingdom single featuring Naomi Allen of Electrik Red this coming Tuesday! The single entitled 'Take Me', is available to check out below!
Kingdom f. Naomi Allen "Take Me" by foolsgoldrecs

"...Kingdom goes from deconstructing R&B divas to working with one of his own, Naomi Allen of the critically acclaimed girl group Electrik Red. Their original collaboration is a stand-out slice of futuristic pop, weaving breathy come-ons and radio-ready melodies atop a hypnotic sub-bass riff and snatches of raw, insistent percussion. B-side “If You Buck” flips expectations even further as a dreamlike crunk instrumental – who knew harps and finger snaps could be so heavy? The whole package is a summer must-have, and another surprising addition to the Fool’s Gold catalog." Fool's Gold Records

Chromeo - Business Casual

Kareem couldn't have put it any better, September 14th was an amazing day for music. I couldn't help but have a huge smile on my face because I knew that this heavily anticipated album was hitting the stores yesterday. I've been playing this album on loop all night and it hasn't even started getting old yet. This album is everything you'd want from a modern disco duo that mixes both electronic beats and enough Saturday night fever to keep your mojo go on overdrive throughout the album. If this album doesn't boost your libido, you've got no hope whatsoever. Chromeo is giving us a huge break from the head splitting, jack hammer and fist pumping shit you hear in clubs nowadays. In any case, this album is a definite and ranks high on RVS' top albums of the year!
Go out and buy it, it's a must!!!

Here's a freebie!!

Holy Ghost - Static On The Wire EP [DWNLD]

To announce my return to Rhythmic Variations of Sound, after a long break due to the omnipresent censures of the Middle Kingdom (China), I have decided to promote the newest EP by the New York duo, Holy Ghost! Holy Ghost! are currently on tour with LCD Soundsystem but they have managed to release this EP that has my septum tingling with excitement. Holy Ghost! made famous for their remixes for MGMT, Cut Copy, LCD Soundsystem, and Phoenix, are bringing back that 70s and 80s era disco to the dance floor. This incredibly danceable EP has already been remixed by the likes of RAC. They remixed the song, Static On The Wire and it has you poppin' that ass to the poppy-disco tune. You can grab that below, so don't hesitate. This EP is making the wait for Chromeo's newest album a lot more bearable, but has you popping your hips to it like none other. In any situation, it's a fucking good break from the jacked up, techno-douche, dance hammer style that's been hitting us with migraines all summer.

Go out and buy the Holy Ghost! EP, Static On The Wire on iTunes!

The Weekly Electronic Smash!

What up people!
This month of July is bringing about changes for RVS and the way we will be blogging. First, you can find us on Facebook as a fan page @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rhythmic-Variations-Of-Sound/134295623268705. Also new, we have changed our e-mail to rhythmicvariationsofsound@gmail.com so don't forget to drop us any beats you'd want to see us put up! I believe that a Twitter account is also on its way to creation so don't forget to check us out there too! We're still on SoundCloud, you know where to find us on there. We are also thinking of uploading weekly videos from time to time to recap the week in music beginning in September! Finally, on my part, I will be serving you a weekly dosage of techno every Saturday so stay tuned to check that out!

Starting with this Saturday, I'm hitting you with a couple of albums that are fresh on the market! Below you'll find a mini summary of the artist and their album along with one of their songs and possibly a download link!

Rusko has hit us with yet another remix but this time it's a 4th of July remix that was originally done by Kelis. We know Kelis' voice from the song Acapella but Rusko transforms her style to a blend of both dubstep and techno. In any case, it is a must for the next 4th of July so download it or buy it on iTunes. Do it for your country.

I am sorry for not being able to find a better quality video!

A couple of weeks ago I blogged about Mustard Pimp and how they were dubbed the next big French duo. A couple years ago, I was obsessed with an artist by the name of Brodinski. He too, was dubbed the next big thing out of France. Today, we have yet another. French Fries could not have picked a better name either. Mumdance has named them the next big French duo since the likes of Daft Punk and I want to know what you think of their mix! It's available to download on the link below.
I've got to say, when Duck Sauce came out, I was blown away. The fusion of funk and techno by two greats such as van Helden and A-Trak was always going to be a hit. Well, guess what? They just filmed it while performed live. And, on top of that, the video includes Trizzy live with Travis. Trizzy, you never fail to impress.

Sticking to videos, the highly anticipated video for Kingdom's 'Mind Reader' is out! Definitely a must see so check it out below!

Finally, the much awaited for EP is out on Fool's Gold! It's none other than Green Money's Gold Rush EP! It sailed to the top download on Juno and is now available on BeatPort and iTunes! As a bonus, check out the new Jokers of The Scene Mix on SoundCloud which is available for download!

Until next week, peace!

Senor Stereo - Unintentional EP [DWNLD]

A blend of sexy disco, funk, and old school house/techno is what Senor Stereo is determined to bring to the music scene. Senor Stereo are the newest djs to join Slow Roast Records and they have only just released their first EP a couple of days ago. The Unintentional EP has been well received and has even appeared on the Fool's Gold blog. This is only the second release by Slow Roast Records and it seems like they're signing all the right acts. Don't forget to also check out their first release (Kill The Noise - Roots)! In any case, Senor Stereo is definitely an act to catch on tour with them promising both live gigs and other times, simply a dj set. One thing is for certain though, their songs are definitely rocking the dancefloors this summer!

Hey Pimp, Can I Get Some More Mustard?

Hello my fellow readers! I've been away temporarily but I'm glad to be back and ready to update y'all on some insane techno hits that have been blowing my mind recently. I start off with two upcoming French Djs by the name of Mustard Pimp. One of them, a former heavy metal guitarist and the other one, a dj since he was nine, have been rocking the international techno scene with their acid-house hits. They bring with them the ever familiar Dim Mak record label style except this time it's infused with some European house that renders the songs classic. I highly recommend you checking some of these songs out. Also, if you can find it available easily online, I recommend downloading their Cyberpunkers Show Mixtape (Italy). It is truly a tribute to their music and their style! For now check out their song Cherry and Rock ft. Hot Pink Delorean!

And, as a bonus:

Time Warp Alert - The Disco 80s Are Still Alive!

The Scissor Sisters strike back with a new tune that has everyone flailing through a time warp back to the hallucinogenic 80s. It's back to the skin tight clothes and the ever present club scene. This beat renders the 80s into a contemporary playground for the Scissor Sisters. Check out their new album that hits stores on June 28th! For now, quench your nostalgic thirst on this beat and as a bonus check out the Stuart Price remix below!

Rusko - Hold On ft. Amber Coffman (Sub Focus Remix)

It's time for another injection of electro to come your way people and this time, it's a highly charged dose of Rusko. Rusko's new album O.M.G. hits stores on May 4th, and the song Hold On is one of its many highlights. Sub Focus remixes the track which debuts with a cheesy hip-hop drum roll effect but don't be mistaken by that cheesy drum roll, because in a couple of seconds, you find out how big this track really is. The drum roll leads to an immediate dropping of the bass and you enter an enchanted trance state of mind in which Amber Coffman is the leader of your soul. As you float around in this enchanted world, you are suddenly released to a quickening of the pace. The rest, is for you to enjoy.

The Four Floors Between Sunday Girl and Diplo

It’s been a while since the blog has been updated with new tunes so I’m resuscitating it with a little bit of Diplo and Sunday Girl. Diplo is one of my favorite techno artists out there mixing some of the most metallic of sounds with a mixture of dubstep, heavy bass and a calm serenity that proves to be paradoxical while watching him live. Four Floors is one of the songs that captures this calm serenity. It is, the calm before and after the storm. Sunday Girl’s hypnotic voice is dragged out and carried through a beat that is both bass heavy and metallically composed. Within the song itself is a layer of violins that just adds to the symphonious sound that it extends. Whether it is a sort of intermission between beats at a club or whether it’s a bright summer day, Four Floors is a tune you don’t want to be missing out on. Check it out below:

Kingdom Says: Put Your Right Hand Hi, Kid Sister

Another techno Monday but this time with a more party feel to it than Massive Attack's Paradise Circus. As sensual as Paradise Circus was, Kid Sister's new hit Right Hand Hi remixed by Kingdom, is on a whole other level. It is the pre-drink to a great party. It's like sitting in a hotel room chugging alcohol and getting ready to get fucked up. Kingdom takes the original and makes a whole other song. The man takes an iconic house beat and places right into this song and it fits perfectly.

Show Me Love, by Steve Angello and Laidback Luke, was amongst the biggest hits of 2009 and that iconic beat that everyone is now so familiar with is what makes this remix so big.

So, check it out, let me know what you think, download some other Kingdom remixes because he is one great Dj. Stay tuned for your next techno update!

The Massive Attack of the Paradise Circus

It may be a Monday, but I'm starting off this week by hitting you with a classic.
Massive Attack's newest album Heligoland is a must have for any sort of techno dj with a taste in music. The biggest track on the album, Paradise Circus, is one that I have to talk about. Especially the Gui Boratto remix.

This song has the strangest feel to it. It's not something you'd expect. It's chill with a certain appeal. The beat may be slow but the minute the voice of Hope Sandoval pops in, it immediately injects a certain aroma. The aroma of a very drunk, yet appealing flavour. Again, it's nothing you'd expect. Her sensual voice takes you a journey and you have no idea where you're headed. Exactly like the line says, "But we like it when we're spinning", we are lost, confused and caught up in the haze of that extraordinary voice. The idea of being lost and having no idea where you're headed instantly captures the listener and brings them to a whirlwind of emotions and leaves them rested and soothed. As the song approaches an end, the pace of the beat begins to increase and reaches a sort of climax and again just drops to the original beat.
Give it a good listen and you'll be astonished as to what this song may do to you. Hit me up with comments as to how it makes you feel.

Happy Monday people!
